2024 GRADUATE RESEARCH DAY
2024 Graduate Research Day
Graduate Research Day, held May 3, 2024, is an annual event that allows LSU Health Shreveport graduate students and postdoctoral fellows to come together and present the research that they've been working on for the past year. This year, we featured a student speaker from each of our six graduate school departments, and two post-doctoral speakers. There were 46 posters showcased from junior graduate students, senior graduate students and postdoctoral fellows.
Dr. Chris Kevil, Vice Chancellor of Research and Dean of the School of Graduate Studies, shared, “Graduate Research Day is a marquee day on our campus that is an opportunity for everyone that is doing research, learning about research, to share their work and present it. Honestly, I really don't know a time when our graduate school has been as robust and active as it is at this time.”
The post-graduation career talk was given by Madison El-Saadi, who talked about working in the bio equities, where Wall Street and science can come together. This is a very new career opportunity that has not previously been presented on our campus.
Students and postdocs are the ones that carry the research burden. They are the ones that are in the lab moving fluids from one to another and making the science happen. When we create opportunities like this on our campus, it allows our students to see each other's work and talk to one another. It creates a sense of excitement and builds community that is very important.
