Training here begins and ends in the laboratory.

When you join our School of Graduate Studies, you become part of a community of scientists working toward a common goal. With a student-to-faculty ratio of less than 2:1, every student receives a personalized and collaborative education and training experience. Our faculty members provide close mentorship to each student, helping them succeed in defining and achieving their goals.

NEW FACILITIES

building rendering

The Center of Excellence for Emerging Viral Threats (CEVT) will open doors to a new facility in 2024. Scientists at LSUHS in the CEVT's Viral Genomics and Sequencing Lab have been sequencing SARS CoV-2 genomes since April 2020 and their work is a leading contributor to state, national and international databases for COVID-19 surveillance. The CEVT received two additional grants totaling over $1 million to support their genomic sequencing efforts.

The new facility will allow the CEVT to transition from a BSL2 to a BSL3 lab and expand its mission as a robust surveillance site for new and returning pathogens.
